Help to NPSA

Post by Katka »

Dear fellow IPSC shooters and friends,

As many of you have heard already, IPSC shooting (in fact all Dynamic shooting disciplines) are about to be prohibited in the Netherlands!
This new law will be voted on in a matter of weeks, and if it passes ? will mean the end of our sport in Holland, and who knows ? this decision may well spread quickly across the EU.

As you can imagine, the NPSA (the Dutch IPSC organization) is mobilizing every possible resource to fight this unjust proposed law, but it is a desperate battle. The odds are stacked against us.

We need your help!

There is a petition being signed (online) which will be submitted along with other material as we try to make our case for our sport.
You can help by going online and signing this petition. The more signatures we have, the better.
Please also take a moment to forward this email to anyone you can think of who could generate more signatures, your shooting range, your club, your federation, your local gunsmiths who may be able to send it on to their mailing list. Post it online on any website you have access to.
We want to show that IPSC is a serious sport, with thousands of participants worldwide.

Please take a minute to log onto this site:
http://petities.nl/petitie/dynamische-d ... en-blijven

Scroll down, where it says ?Ik? ? you fill in your name
- Where it says ?wonede te? you fill in your city and country.
- Tick the checkbox if you want to allow your name to be shown on the list.
- Enter your email address
- And click the yellow box ?ondertekenen? to sign the petition.

Many thanks for your participation in our fight.

Hollannin RD:ltä tuli seuraavansisältöinen viesti:

Dear fellow Regional Director,

Last Tuesday night we have been informed that the Minister of Justice and Safety has decided to ban all dynamic shooting disciplines in The Netherlands, including IPSC.

-- quote from the letter of the Minister to the Dutch Parliament –

No “combat” in the shooting sports

Shooting sports need to stay clear of training for specific skills needed for the offensive use of firearms. Also the unwanted attraction from offensive exercises, gun types, accessories and (camouflage) clothing to persons sensitive to this, requires in my opinion a stronger regulation. We need to do all that is needed to avoid that a solistic threat, also known as “lone wolve”, gets the possibility to train themselves in the use of weapons by participating in shooting sports.

Therefore I have prepared a change of regulation which leads to withhold issueing firearm licenses for the use of guns in shooting discplines where the shooter moves within a shooting contest, where an uninterrupted timeregistration is part of the scoring process and the shooter in various stances or positions, possibly from behind obstacles, shoots at targets. With this measure the practice of so called dynamic shooting disciplines will come to an end in The Netherlands. The KNSA will therefore not longer recognize these dynamic shooting disciplines after the effectuation of this rule change. Because of this change it will be impossible to get the guns licensed that are primarily intended for use in these disciplines, like semi-automatic “assault rifles” like Van der V. posessed.

-- end quote –

This change will be incorporated in a set of changes which also includes the certification of shooting clubs. It will also be prohibited to practice non-recognized shooting disciplines, not adhering to this requirement might lead to loss of the certification of the shooting club. So effectively not only the official discipline IPSC is being killed in The Netherlands, also the possibility to train for foreign events is taken away.

The firearms involved (specifically pistol ammunition shooting carbines) will be declared “unwanted” which makes it impossible to transfer them to another sport shooter in The Netherlands. Other firearms could possibly be used in other (static) disciplines but all related gear like holsters, belts, pouches will become obsolete. Same goes for ammunition and components – in IPSC we are shooting a pretty high number of rounds when compared to other shooting sports. The ban of IPSC and other dynamic disciplines will cause a drop in demand for ammo components and related equipment affecting gun shops all across the country.

Not only these items are important to The Netherlands - they are important to all Regions within Europe and beyond as the governments of many Regions are keeping a close eye to developments at their neighbors. The falling of IPSC in The Netherlands might lead to a domino effect and involve other Regions as well.

We are fighting this change with all the means and resources we have and we will keep you updated. Your support in this matter is highly appreciated.

Kind regards, DVC,

Kees Guichelaar
